Photo: SHB. Almuñécar, Costa Tropical The seaboard of Málaga county is kwon like Costa del Sol, although they also have included some mountains towns with that denomination. We will find cities and coastal towns of great tourist activity and some of them with a past very linked to the history of Mediterranean, conserving remains of Arab or Roman architecture in most of the cases. In Costa del Sol they have been obtained great quantity of archaeological remains of historical and cultural great value. We will also find the white Andalusian towns that illuminate the hillsides of the mountains, in a landscape where without a doubt the Nature has been splendid, with nooks of exuberant vegetation, towns with streets that they go up the mountain, with balconies and windows full of flowers. The seaboard of Costa del Sol has 161 km. of beautiful beaches, very visited in summer time, already that they offer many possibilities for the tourists. Although for their pleasant temperatures, in autumn or winter, a vacations in Costa del Sol can be very interesting, because we will have a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere, without bustles neither agglomerations.   Marbella, Costa del Sol. Almuñécar, Costa Tropical In Costa del Sol exists a long  tourist  tradition, since the activity related with the sector begins about the decade of  50/ 60, when the first tourists come to our coasts looking for its splendid sun and the softness of the climate that here is enjoyed. The change comes in this area dedicated to the agriculture and the fishing, when the tourism burst into it giving another perspective to its future. They begin to build hotels, and the infrastructures related with the tourism go taking form and adapting to the necessities of the moment, making of Costa del Sol the perfect place for the vacations of sun and beach.  Apart from this option, the visitors   that   choose this   area,   have another   possibilities,   because   the tourist offer of Costa del Sol is excellent, for example: active tourism, of golf, cultural, of interior, rural, nautical thematic parks, natural spaces, etc.   Marbella, Costa del Sol. Almuñécar If we enter for the east, the first district that we find is Axarquía, its capital is Vélez-Málaga, the central district is Málaga, where it is located the capital of the county with the same name,  and  the last one  is the district of Costa del Sol Occidental, Marbella is the good known city of this district. To informative way, I allow myself to make mention here to Costa Tropical -coast of Granada-  because during a lot of time this belonged to Costa del Sol, and although it changed its denomination in the decade of the 80,  even now it continues being known more as Costa del Sol that like Costa Tropical.  For more  information to see our page of Costa Tropical. Among all the towns of Costa del Sol very good communications exist through the Mediterranean road. In Costa del Sol we can enjoy some really marvellous natural spaces. In the district of Málaga we have: Mounts of Málaga and the Outlet of Guadalhorce River. In the district of Axarquía we have: Mounts of Málaga, Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo and Sierras of Alhama, Tejeda and Almijara. In Nerja, one of  the most good known towns of Axarquía are the Caves of Nerja, discovered in the year 1959,  very visited by the interest that they wake up.
